About Me
Hi, my name is Cassie Schirm and this is my reporting website.
I have a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Univerity of Arkansas. I have a passion for people, traveling, learning cultures, taking pictures and sports.
During my time reporting and anchoring for the university’s award-winning on and off campus newscast, I have won multiple NATAS Mid America Emmys for breaking news newscast and breaking news reporting, multiple national scholar competitive awards for journalism, and won Mark of Excellence Award's first-place for best all-around newscast with my news team UATV. I also interned for KNWA and FOX 24 in Fayetteville, Arkansas while working on my degree. During my senior year, I shot and produced a documentary, Voice of the Razorbacks. The documentary has been in multiple film festivals and won the highest award at the Bison Bison Film Festival.
After Graduation, I traveled from Dallas, Texas to Bozeman, Montana where I landed my first MMJ Job. There I covered statewide stories and went live for the Billings, Great Falls, Bozeman, Butte, Missoula, Kalispell and Helena Markets. I went live three to six times a day. I spent more than a year in Bozeman covering wildfires, frozen deaths, large mass fish kills the special election, weather, traffic, Confederate monuments and many community stories. During my time in Bozeman, I was anchor, weather, and producer trained.
After Bozeman I took my adventure further up north to the last frontier. I report in Alaska's biggest city Anchorage. When I moved up I was the morning reporter for a one hour show at 6am and 9am. While on the morning show I covered breaking news, what was trending and community stories and even filled in producing the shows. After 9 months I was moved to nightside where I produce content for the 5pm, 6pm, and 10pm shows. Most nights going live for all three shows. I cover a wide range of news and go live on a regular basis.
I have a passion for people and that is what drives me to do what I do.
When I am not reporting, I am exploring the community I live in with my pup Coco, doing community service and taking pictures.
